My friend Toi used to work at the same library that I did, before she moved to Arizona. Even after she moved we kept in touch through Facebook. Toi is Native American, and when her birthday came around, I wondered to get her something special, so I commissioned this picture of Maria Tallchief, member of the Osage Nation and America's first major prima ballerina!

did a REMARKABLE job with this piece. The lovely reference photo was taken by Walter E. Owen, but I think I like this art even BETTER!
